Nigeria D’Tigers 3×3 team lost their first two games at the 2018 FIBA 3X3 World Cup in Philippines on Friday. D’Tigers lost 11-22 to Ukraine in their first game before losing 8-22 in the second game against Croatia.

The team who are playing their debut 3×3 World Cup were outplayed by top seeded teams Ukraine, 5, and Croatia seeded 12.

They will next play their last two Pool D games against Jordan and Latvia on Sunday.

Croatia and Latvia lead the Pool after 2 wins out of two games with 44 and 43 points respectively. While Ukraine and Jordan are third and fourth with Nigeria at the bottom.

The top two teams from each Pool qualify for the quarter-finals and then play knock-out games all the way to the final.

Meanwhile, David Godwin of Nigeria narrowly missed out on the final of the shooting contest.

Croatia’s Marin Hrvoje made 7 shots while Godwin, Edgars Krumins of Latvia and Tatsuhito Noro of Japan all made 5 shots each ahead of four others. But Noro will join Hrvoje to the final having scored the most points in the shortest amount of time, 26 seconds which is 3 seconds less than that scored by the Nigerian.

Only two players will make it to the final of the shooting contest after each participating player attempts 10 shots (all worth one point), five from the right wing and five from the left wing and with a 30 second shotclock.
