Bundesliga leaders, Borussia Dortmund have confirmed the signing of forward, Andrey Yarmolenko from Dynamo Kyiv for an undisclosed fee.

The 27-year-old has signed a four-year contract, which runs until the summer of 2021, and will wear the number 9 shirt at the club.

“Andrey is a player we have been pursuing for a long time and who is on top level both at club level and in the service of the Ukrainian national team for football,” the club’s sports director, Michael Zorc told the club’s official website.

Yarmolenko, who is set to replace the departed Ousmane Dembele, who joined Barcelona, featured 339 times for Kyiv, scoring 137 goals.

Revered in his home country, Ukraine, the tall but quick attacker was voted the Ukrainian footballer of the year three consecutive times, between 2013-2015.

“I am very grateful that Dynamo Kiev has fulfilled my dream of being able to switch to a big European club! I will work hard in every training to help BVB achieve its highest goals – that’s what I always do, “Yarmolenko alluded.

He has represented his country 69 time, scoring 29 goals.
