President of the Nigeria Cricket Federation, Uyi Akpata, has paid a morale-boosting visit to Nigeria’s women’s national cricket team, the Female Yellow Greens, during their training session at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) Cricket Oval in Lagos, www.aclsports.com reports.
The visit comes as the team intensifies preparations for the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifiers, scheduled for August 28 – September 7, 2025, in Namibia.
Head coach Leke Oyede currently leads the squad in closed camp. To boost technical readiness, the NCF has also engaged Zimbabwean coaches Stephen Mangongo and Thabo Mboyi as assistants.
Nigeria has been drawn in a tough group alongside Zimbabwe, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Namibia, Rwanda, and Sierra Leone. Only the top two teams will advance to the global qualifiers later this year, keeping alive hopes of a historic Women World Cup debut.
With Akpata’s backing, fresh technical input, and growing confidence, the Female Yellow Greens will be determined to make a bold statement in Namibia and continue their rise on the continental stage.
