The NFF, has invited University of Connecticut forward Chioma Okafor, to join the Super Falcons’ training camp in Lisbon ahead of the 2024 WAFCON, www.aclsports.com reports.
Okafor has officially committed to representing Nigeria at international level, ending speculation over her dual eligibility. Born to a Nigerian father and a Malawian mother, the 20-year-old chose the Super Falcons after discussions with both federations. The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) confirmed her decision and wished her well in her international career.
Known for her pace and finishing ability, Okafor plays collegiate football in the United States. Her addition is expected to strengthen Nigeria’s attack as the nine-time African champions look to reclaim their continental title.
The Super Falcons’ training camp is set to open soon in Lisbon, with a friendly against Portugal on the schedule, followed by another match against Ghana’s Black Queens in Morocco.
Okafor’s call-up marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in her career and a potential debut on one of African football’s biggest stages.
