Nigeria’s representative in the 2018/19 CAF Champions League, Lobi Stars have reinforced their team ahead of the group stage of the competition with the acquisition of two former Enyimba stars Sunday Adetunji and Dare Ojo reports www.aclsports.com

The Pride of Benue only last month advanced to the group stage of this season’s tournament after barely going past Kenyan side Gor Mahia in Enugu. The Solomon Ogbeide-coached side have now signed on the experienced duo ahead of the group stage which begins next weekend.

Both Adetunji and Ojo represented former African champions Enyimba in their run to the semi-final of the Confederation Cup last year.

Striker Adetunji has joined the Makurdi-based side on loan till the end of the season from fellow Nigeria Professional Football League side Abia Warriors. Dare Ojo, on the other hand joined Lobi Stars on a permanent basis after his contract with Enyimba expired at the end of last season.

The addition of both players become imperative for Lobi after a number of their Stars are reported to be on their way out of the country to secure foreign deals. Forwards Sikiru Alimi and Samad Kadiri as well as defender Anthony Agbaji are among players linked with moves abroad. The latter duo are not in the team’s camp at the moment.

The addition of Dare Ojo to the midfield will serve as a further boost for the side as the midfielder is known for his grit and ability to hit long distance efforts. On his last appearance in the Champions League, Ojo scored a brilliant long range goal when his side Enyimba lost at Mamelodi Sundowns 1-2 in 2016.

Coincidentally, Ojo may likely make his Lobi Stars debut against same team, Mamelodi Sundowns when they travel to Enugu to face his new side in Match Day One of this season’s Total Champions League group stage next weekend.
