Beyond Limits Football Academy of Nigeria have defeated ASEC Mimosas of Cote d’Ivoire to be crowned champions of the 2026 Gothia Cup tournament in Sweden, www.aclsports.com reports.
Following the side’s successful campaign at the 50th edition of the tournament last year, where the TCC League champions lifted the Gothia Puma Trophy for the first time, the Ikenne boys battled through a tournament format change to reign supreme in Gothenburg once more.
Memud Olamilekan, who has been in great form since the start of the competition, handed BLFA the lead in the 17th minute to set the ball rolling in a repeat of the 2025 final. That was the only goal needed to decide the contest, as Olumide Ajibolade’s boys played their hearts out to retain the title.
BLFA, who competed in the U17 category, faced four different teams in the group stages before reaching the final at the SKF Arena. They played out a goalless draw in their opening game against Cantolao AD of Peru, before a 7-0 thumping of IF Brommapojkarna and a 3-0 win over IFK Göteborg of Sweden.
In the final group game against Sudeva Delhi FC of India, BLFA scored seven once again to seal progression into the last four before edging Right to Dream 2-1 in the semifinal for their successive final appearance in the competition.
Following the win on Saturday, Beyond Limits ended the competition unbeaten with five wins from their six matches, 30 goals scored, and just a goal conceded.
