The head coach of Confluence Stars Handball Club, Emmanuel David, has been talking tough ahead of their opening match against De Defenders HC in the second phase of the 2023 Ardova Handall Premier League on November 14th.

Confluence Stars are currently occupying sixth place at the end of the first phase in Benin City, Edo State.

David told www.aclsports.com that the coaching crew were not satisfied with the position of the team in the first phase.

The Ex International also known as Okocha revealed that his side is going for maximum point against De Defenders.

He said, “Definitely, we are trying to change the situation this time around because it is going to be a very important game for us especially being the first game. I know how experienced the De Defenders are but from the preparation we are having now, we have taken it upon ourselves that every point matters in the final phase.

“The coaching crew are not happy with the results that we got from the first phase against De Defenders and looking at what happened in Benin, Confluence Stars are definitely getting all the maximum point against De Defenders by the Grace of God”.

He said Confluence Stars stand a better chance of making the Top three following the current composition of the squad.

David told www.aclsports.com his side dropped some vital points against teams which should have been won.

David said, “Looking at the composition of the squad I have now with the addition of those who missed out during the first phase, it would be a disappointment if I do not see Confluence Star on the medals table this time.

“I can boast of experience and a young energetic team. From the preparation we are doing now, the attitude that the players have portrayed shows that sign and that zeal together with the passion to achieve something.

“From the Technical angle I have huge expectations from the players that we wouldn’t end up this second phase without being on the medal table.

“I am not only looking at being on the medal table but I am looking at being in a situation where Confluence Star will be Crowned 2023 Premier Handball League, anything can happen”.

“You see one thing with this Premier league is no matter how good you are you are beatable. Why do I say you are beatable is that you are having 11 games within the space of 12 days probably a day rest out of it. So it’s something that can go any other team’s way”, he said.
