Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade scored off the bench in Paris Saint-Germain Féminine’s 3–0 victory over Paris FC on Saturday, sealing a place in the Coupe LFFP (Coupe de la Ligue) final, www.aclsports.com reports.
The 89th-minute goal, tapping in a cut-back inside the box, was Ajibade’s second for PSG since signing and her first goal contribution since returning from an injury sustained against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, where she had provided an assist.
Paris started strongly and controlled the game but had to remain alert to Paris FC’s counter-attacks. Her Nigerian compatriot, Jennifer Echegini, started the game, providing energy and creativity in midfield. Merveille Kanjinga repeatedly troubled the opposition’s defence but couldn’t find the breakthrough. Romée Leuchter opened the scoring shortly after half-time with a precise strike from a layoff by Jackie Groenen, before Kanjinga doubled the lead in the 58th minute with a fierce diagonal shot.
Ajibade’s late goal ensured PSG completed a commanding display and booked their spot in the final in Abidjan, where they will face the winner of the other semi-final between Olympique Lyonnais Féminin and Dijon FCO Féminin.
