AiteoCupFinal: Angels’ Nwabuoku wants to win over and over again

Ahead of Rivers Angels’s fourth consecutive appearance in the AiteoCupFinal, midfielder Evelyn Nwabuoku has told www.aclsports.com that her club are not tired to win the title over and over again.

Angels will face Nasarawa Amazons in the 2019 AiteoCupFinal at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna on Sunday.

Nwabuoku who has spent close to a decade with the back-to-back champions (with stints in Europe in between) says winning is their culture.

“As champions, we always want to win, winning is our culture,” Nwabuoku told www.aclsports.com

“We want to win over and all over again.”

“We know it will boost our CVs as players if we keep winning repeatedly like that, so we want to win first and see what will come later.”

Nwabuoku played two matches for Nigeria’s senior team at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France last month.

She scored Angels’ only goal in their 1-0 win over FC Robo in their Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL) opening game on Wednesday and says that will help them in Sunday’s final.

“We are glad that we were able to win our league game on Sunday because that was the first game of the season which we wanted to use as a rehearsal to the final. We’re hoping that as we’ve started on a winning note, we will take that to the final on Sunday,” added the 33-year old.

The game between Rivers Angels and Nasarawa Amazons (at 2pm) will precede the Men’s final scheduled for 4pm between Kano Pillars and Niger Tornadoes also at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.
