The Super Eagles of Nigeria will now face Les Fennecs of Algeria in the quarterfinal at the ongoing AFCON 2025 tournament in Morocco, www.aclsports.com reports.

In one of the final rounds of 16 matches decided on Tuesday, Algeria and DR Congo, who defeated Nigeria in the World Cup qualifiers, faced off in Rabat to determine who would face the Super Eagles in the next round of the 35th AFCON tournament.

After a keenly contested match between the two countries, it was substitute Adil Boulbina’s breathtaking goal in the 119th minute that secured the win for the Algerians in front of the packed Stade Prince Moulay Hassan.

Following Monday’s dominant win against Mozambique to advance, Eric Chelle’s men continued their strong run to reach the last eight for the 18th time in the competition’s history.

In a repeat of the semi-final clash in 2019, the Super Eagles of Nigeria, who have won every game in this tournament so far, will face the Algerians, who have conceded just a goal in the tournament so far, at the Grand Stadium of Marrakesh on Saturday for a place in the last four of the competition.
