The Confederation of African football, CAF, has made public its team of the group stage with players from Nigeria conspicuously missing.

The 18-man list which was released on Wednesday is dominated by players from North African countries with the usual suspect included.

The group stages witnessed some stellar performances🔥🔥

Egypt is represented by four players in the Group Stage XI led by African footballer of the year, Mohamed Salah, with Riyad Mahrez one of two players from Algeria.

Other players on the list include Salah’s Liverpool teammate, Sadio Mane, and Jordan Ayew of Ghana who are the three attackers.

Despite booking a place in the round of 16, Nigeria’s Super Eagles have hardly impressed in Egypt where they finished second behind debutants Madagascar in Group B.

The not-so-impressive display comes at a price with none of the players listed in the team of the group stage, with Kenneth Omeruo a notable omission.

Nigeria take on Cameroon in the round of 16 on Saturday and will be looking to improve on their performances so far.
