Four-time winners of the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, Kano Pillars, have confirmed the death of their center back, Chinedu Udoji.

Udoji died last night, after he was involved in a ghastly car crash in Kano, according to the club.

” Chinedu Udoji was involved in a car accident yesterday after visiting his former team mates at Enyimba,” the club said in a statement on their official social media account.

The dependable defender was part of the Pillars side who were held at home to a 1-1 draw by visitors, Enyimba, in one of  the week nine matches played across the country.

He was involved in the auto crash as he made his way back to the club, following a short visit to the hotel where his former team and teammates  from the camp of the People’s Elephants were staying.

The ex-Enyimba captain was named man of the match in that encounter against Pillars, and his sudden demise has come as a huge shock to everyone involved in the Football League.

Here are some of the reactions, as lovers of Nigerian football express shock and disbelief.
