A well placed left-footed strike by Sikiru Olatunbosun deep in the first half; sealed maximum points for the Olukoya boys against league leaders, Akwa United at the Agege Soccer Temple on Wednesday.

“I feel excited about the goal because it was a tough match against the table toppers,” Sikiru said on his match winning goal.

“They’ve had 4 points away from home while we haven’t had any away point so this match was a must win for us and the draw in Mali gave us the motivation that we could defeat them.”

With two goals in two consecutive home games after failing to score in previous games he said: “It is football. Sometimes you’re down, other times you’re up and you will continue fighting. You will never relent until you get to where you’re going.”

Sikiru then went on to express his disappointment at being left out of the CHAN squad that won Silver medal at the just concluded tournament in Morocco saying: “I did my best last season but the fact that I didn’t make the CHAN list doesn’t mean I will never make it in life. In football if you don’t make it one way, you will make it another way.”

He however added that the disappointment would motivate him to work even harder to prove a point to the minders of Nigerian football.
