Pre-tournament favorites, Morocco, have been crowned the champions of the African Championship after a comprehensive 4-0 defeat of West African giants, Nigeria, on Sunday evening at the Complexe Mohamed V in Casablanca.

Zakaria Hadraf scored a brace, with Walid El Karti and Ayoub El Kaabi, who emerged top scorer with nine goals, scoring a goal each to hand Morocco a deserved win over a disjointed Nigeria team.

It was Morocco’s first major title since winning the African Nations cup back in 1976.

The result has left Nigerians disappointed by how the Super Eagles, who also had a man sent off, capitulated to the Moroccans, as they took to their various social media accounts to voice their displeasures.
