African Champion,  Kemeasuodei Dressman won Nigeria’s only gold medal at the Commonwealth Wresting Championships in Brakpan, South Africa. Dressman in a tense bout defeated  India’s Pooja Pooja 6-0 in 76kg female final.

In the 68kg female category, Blessing Oborududu settled for silver after losing a bout out of ten. Her last fight was against Monia Monia from India beating her by 6-0 points (Pin fall) .
Nigeria Army Wrestler, Winnie Gofit settled for silver against Kiran Kiran of India 4-5 points in the 72kg weight category, while Commonwealth Champion, Aminat Adeniyi won bronze medal in the 62kg weight class.

President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Daniel Igali who spoke online with www.aclsports.com said he’s satisfied with the performance of the female wrestlers.
In his words, “Considering the circumstances and preparations for the tournament, I’m proud of the girls”.
He disclosed that Winnie after the final was rushed to the hospital due to stomach complains.
“We wish she recovers quickly. She’s currently in the hospital uber after stomach complains and concerns”, he said.

All attention will be shifted to Olympian, Soso Tamara in the male freestyle category who wrestles on Sunday at the ongoing Championships.
