Five time Paralympian, Lucy Ejike claimed a gold medal at the ongoing World para powerlifting championships in Mexico. She won the gold in the Women’s Up to 61 kg category in day four event after she lifted 130kg in her third attempt at the podium in Mexico city.

China’s Jianjin CUI placed second with 116 kg, (14kg below Ejike’s lift) while Ukraine’s Tetyana SHYROKOLOVA placed third after she managed 100 kg. Reacting to her feat, the three-time Paralympic gold medallist said God made her win another medal in 2017 after her appearance at the 2016 Rio Paralympics Games.
She took to her social media page to celebrate her moment with fans and well wishers. “My friends and well wishers, my God has done it again. I give Him all the adoration, thanks be given unto Him”, Lucy wrote on Facebook.

She however called on Nigerians to support her team mates, who are yet to compete at the international showpiece.
With her latest feat, Nigeria has now won Two gold and one bronze medals at the championship.
Two gold medals came from the captain of the team, Lucy Ejike and Folashade Alice Oluwafemiayo, while former World Record holder, Yakubu Adesokan won a bronze medal.
