He made his Super Eagles debut in 1991 with 3 assists for late Rashidi Yekini and one goal in a 7-1 win over Burkina Faso.4. He appeared in four African cup of nations for Nigeria, winning gold in Tunisia 1994, and 2 World Cups in USA 94 and France 98.5. 2. He was scouted to join Ajax during a Super Eagles training camp in Holland

He won eight major trophies with Ajax including three Dutch League titles, two Dutch Super cups, UEFA Super Cup, UEFA Champions League and the Intercontinental Cup. Finidi broke into the Ajax team due to an injury to a first team player and then went on to become a key member of the famous 1995 Louis Van Gaal treble winning team.

3. He made his Super Eagles debut in 1991 with 3 assists for late Rashidi Yekini and one goal in a 7-1 win over Burkina Faso.

 

4. He appeared in four African cup of nations for Nigeria, winning gold in Tunisia 1994, and 2 World Cups in USA 94 and France 98.

5. He won the Nigerian league title with Iwuanyanwu Nationale in 1990.

 

6. He retired from playing football after an illustrious 15 year career

Here’s a bonus fact: Finidi was nicknamed “The Gazelle” during his playing days at Ajax.

    Finidi George did not play for iwuanyanwu national. he played for sharks of PH and Calabar rovers only.
