The President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Engineer Musa Nimrod has hailed the unrelenting spirit of the country’s female national team.

The Falcons in Pool B defeated only Congo DR, losing to Tunisia, Kenya and Senegal. Nimrod urged the volleyball players to keep up with the spirit of God and Nigeria.

“A job well done, you have done your best”, he said. “The future of Nigeria Volleyball is for you all and the dream must be kept intact. Keep up with the spirit of God and Nigeria. The Cameroon competition had its ups and down challenges but I’m optimistic that the federation has learnt it lessons” he noted.

A volleyball enthusiast, Vincent Unogwu on his Facebook page told players to stand by the federation. “We all know the problem falls back to funding. Going to the African derby may seem an embarrassment to some but it all depends on philosophy and idiosyncrasy of the federation leadership. The situation we found ourselves going to that championship has become common. It was a risk worth taking. A sacrifice worth honoring, a courage worth celebrating”.

Also speaking on her Facebook page, Chinyere Okoye aka Pinkpearl described the ladies as gods. “If its sacrifice, you ladies are gods. It is the strength I adore the most, representing this great nation without fear of the unknown and what it entails”.
