African Wrestling Champion, Christianah Ogunsanya is ready to prove her worth at the forthcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games scheduled to take place from 26th July to 11th August, 2024.

Christianah Ogunsanya defeated Shaimaa Mohamed 10-0 (Technical Superiority) in the final of the women’s 53kg at the 2024 African/Oceania Olympic Qualifiers in Egypt last March.

Ogunsanya revealed that qualifying for her maiden Olympic Games is a great accomplishment

The African Games Champion said, “I am confident that I have what it takes to make an impact at the Olympic Games by the special grace of God. I have worked incredibly hard to get to this point, and am ready to take on the challenge. I know it won’t be easy, but I’m up for the task.

“I have a lot of support behind me, and I’m determined to do my best and make my country proud. I may be an underdog, but I’m ready to prove myself. I’m going to give it my all and show what I can do”.

“Qualifying for the Olympics is such an amazing accomplishment as this has been the dream of all athletes, and I’m so honoured to have earned the opportunity to represent my country on the world’s biggest stage”, she told www.aclsports.com

She further said, “The atmosphere at the African/Oceania Olympic Qualifier was electric! It was an honour to compete among so many talented athletes from the Oceanic and Africa countries. The crowd was incredibly passionate, and it was amazing to have so much support even from home.

“The competition was fierce, but the atmosphere was full of camaraderie and sportsmanship. Everyone was there to compete and give it their all, and the energy was truly something special. I’ll never forget the experience”.

The African Youth Champion expressed delight winning a gold medal at the recently concluded 13th African Games in Ghana.

She said, “Winning a gold medal at the African Games was an incredible moment, and am so proud to have brought home that victory for my country. It’s been an incredible year for me so far; I’m excited to see what the future holds. I am thankful for all the support I’ve received along the way”.

“My inspiration to venture into wrestling as a sport started with my senior colleague and teammate, Bisola Makanjuola. She’s an incredible athlete who has accomplished so much in her career, and her dedication to the sport is truly inspiring.

“She pushed me to work harder and pursue my dreams, and I’m forever grateful for her support and guidance. My coach, Purity Akuh has also been instrumental in my journey.

“He’s an experienced and passionate coach, and his dedication to the sport and his athletes is unparalleled. I admire his drive and determination, and he has helped me grow and improve as an athlete. I also look up to other athletes and admire their accomplishment,” she added
