CAF has officially postponed the 2026 WAFCON, originally scheduled to take place from 17 March to 3 April 2026 in Morocco, to 25 July to 16 August 2026, www.aclsports.com reports.

The announcement was made in a press release issued on Thursday, 5 March, with CAF confirming that the decision followed discussions with its partners, including FIFA, as well as other key stakeholders.

Morocco was confirmed as the host of the 2026 WAFCON by CAF in October 2024, with the tournament originally planned for March–April.

However, after further consultations and weeks of uncertainty and speculation, CAF decided to adjust the dates of the tournament. The competition, which has been expanded from 12 teams to 16 and also serves as a qualification pathway for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, will see the top four teams earn automatic qualification to the global showpiece.
