Nigeria U20 women’s head coach, Moses Aduku, says the Falconets are ready to face Spain in their 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup opener after a 1-1 draw against South Korea in their final friendly, www.aclsports.com reports.
Speaking to NFF media after the game in Poland, Aduku said he was pleased with the team’s preparations and confirmed there are no injury concerns.
“So far, so good, we are done with our friendly games, and for me, we are good. There are no injury worries, and my girls are ready. Therefore, we’re waiting for the 7th against Spain,” he said.
Mary Mamudu’s 29th-minute goal was cancelled out by South Korea in the second half, with Aduku admitting the Falconets missed chances to win.
“For me, the game was so good. We lost one or two scoring chances to win the game, but all the same, I respect the Korean team. They are also a good side.”
With Spain next, Aduku said the Falconets are ready to take the tournament one game at a time. “Yes, we are ready. That’s why we are in Poland. We are here to take one game at a time, and we have no other game but to play against Spain. So, we are ready,” he added.
Nigeria are in Group F alongside Spain, China PR and New Caledonia. They will face Spain at Arena Sosnowiec before taking on China PR at the same venue on September 10 and New Caledonia at Stadion Miejski w Łodzi on September 13.
