Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen reached a major milestone by scoring his 50th goal in Galatasaray colours during their 3-1 victory over Karagümrük in the Turkish Super Lig on Saturday night, www.aclsports.com reports.
Osimhen, who returned to action for his club side in their Champions League fixture with Atletico Madrid after helping Nigeria claim the bronze medal at the just concluded AFCON in Morocco, was handed his first league appearance since mid-December.
League leaders Galatasaray, heavy favourites against the bottom side, got the job done early at Ataturk Olimpiyat in Istanbul. Gabriel Sara handed them the lead in the first minute after some fine play from Ilkay Gundogan.
However, the hosts staged a fight and were rewarded with the equaliser in the 27th minute through Baris Kalayci’s finish. Both sides went into the break 1-1, with Gala under slight pressure to secure a second consecutive away league win.
Galatasaray showed their superiority as Sara completed his brace five minutes after the restart before Osimhen increased their lead with a fantastic finish in the 55th minute. Former Manchester City man Gundogan with the wonderful cross.
With the goal, Osimhen grabbed his 50th goal in just 59 appearances for the Turkish champions. It is also his 13th goal in 18 appearances for Gala in the Champions League and Turkish Super Lig this season.
Osimhen will be looking to increase his goal tally when his side travels to face Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
