Defending champions Nigeria have been drawn to face regional rivals Cote d’Ivoire (CIV), South Africa and Zambia in the 2019 Total U23 Africa Cup of Nations (U23AFCON).

The draw was conducted at the
Haramlek Palace, inside the historical Montaza Complex, Alexandria on Wednesday evening.

Nigeria won the last edition of the tournament, hosted by Senegal in 2015 with a team led by current captain Okechukwu Azubuike.

The Dream Team VII, coached by Imama Amapakabo will play their group games at the Al Salam Stadium in Cairo, starting from their opener against Coted’voire on November the 9th.

Nigeria’s other group opponents South Africa and Zambia also met at this stage of the 2015 edition, with the South Africans winning en route to qualification for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

The competition which will be hosted in two venues – Cairo International Stadium and Al Salam Stadium, Cairo – will run from November 8 to 22.

The top three teams at the end of the competition will qualify automatically for the Men’s Football Event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
