Striker Tosin Omoyele is hoping to use his Enyimba debut to build confidence and set the right tone as he begins his career with the People’s Elephant.

The forward who joined the eight times Nigerian champions recently is expected to play a part in Sunday’s Total CAF Champions League clash with Rahimo FC in Ouagadougou, having been listed in Fatai Osho’s traveling party for the match.

The People’s Elephant will kickstart their CAF Champions League campaign against the Burkinabe Premier League champions Rahimo, the same team they met at this stage last season. Then, Enyimba overcame a first-leg deficit to advance on a 5-1 aggregate.

Now looking forward to his first official game in Enyimba colours, Omoyele expects Rahimo to offer an even stiffer opposition this time.

“Last year Enyimba defeated Rahimo, so you know this season it’s not going to be easy but we are determined and we have been working hard.

“I believe it is one of the biggest games because it is my debut so I am sure when I am given the chance to play I will prove myself so that the team can get results and I can get more confidence because the other games are coming and I must be quick to adapt to the team.

“Friendly games and training are quite different from the league; and this is even a CAF Champions League, so I have the determination that whenever I am called upon to play, I am ready to give my best.”

Sunday’s encounter at the Stade du 4 Aout, Ouagadougou will be superintended by Ghanaian referee Abdul Latif Qadiri, with kickoff set for 4 pm local time, which is 5 pm in Nigeria.
