Sprinter Kanyinsola Ajayi, finished 6th in the men’s 100m final at the Tokyo 2025 World Athletics Championships, www.aclsports.com reports.

The Nigerian, who became the first man from the country in 18 years to reach a 100m final at the World Championships, faced a field of the world’s fastest sprinters.

Oblique Seville of Jamaica claimed the gold in a personal best of 9.77s, narrowly edging compatriot Kishane Thompson (9.82s) to complete a Jamaican one-two finish. Usain Bolt was in the stands cheering, a reminder of the legendary sprinter’s enduring presence at major championships. Noah Lyles (USA, 9.89s) claimed bronze, followed by Kenneth Bednarek (USA, 9.92s) in fourth, Gift Leotlela (South Africa, 9.95s) in fifth, Ajayi clocked 10.00s, Akani Simbine (South Africa, 10.04s) in seventh, while Letsile Tebogo (Botswana) was disqualified for a false start.

In the men’s 400m, Samuel Ogazi ran 5th in Heat 3 in 45.97 seconds. The heat was led by Jacory Patterson of the United States in 43.90 seconds, followed by Rusheen McDonald of Jamaica, who ran a Season Best of 44.38 seconds, and Edoardo Scotti of Italy, who set a new National Record of 44.45 seconds.

Chidi Okezie finished 8th in his heat with a time of 45.66 seconds, behind Bayapo Ndori of Botswana in 44.36 seconds, Yuki Nakajima of Japan, who set a National Record of 44.44 seconds, and Bovel McPherson of Jamaica, who ran a Personal Best of 44.51 seconds.
