Super Falcons forward, Uchenna Kanu, has completed a move to Cruz Azul Femenil, joining the Liga MX side on a free transfer after ending her time with Racing Louisville FC, www.aclsports.com reports.
The 28-year-old returns to Mexico following an earlier spell with Tigres UANL, where she lifted the Liga MX Femenil title and established herself as one of the league’s most physical and efficient forwards. Her familiarity with Mexican football was a key factor in Cruz Azul’s move for the Nigerian, as the club looks to benefit from her league experience and winning mentality.
She joined Racing Louisville in February 2023 from Tigres, spending three seasons in the NWSL. During her time in the United States, Kanu featured regularly when fit, contributing important goals and performances despite battling periods of injury.
Kanu was also part of Racing Louisville’s historic 2025 campaign, which saw the club reach the NWSL Play-offs for the first time. However, a knee injury limited her involvement in the latter stages of the season.
At international level, Kanu is among the most prominent names in Nigerian women’s football. She has featured for Nigeria at the 2019 and 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cups, finding the net with a decisive goal against co-hosts Australia at the latter tournament. The forward also represented the country at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and played a key role in Nigeria’s run to the semi-finals of the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Now back in Liga MX Femenil, Kanu begins a new chapter with Cruz Azul, bringing with her continental experience, international pedigree and a proven goalscoring record. For La Máquina, her signing represents both a statement of ambition and a boost ahead of the upcoming campaign.
