Cup holders, Rivers Angels advanced to the quarter-finals of the Women’s President Federation Cup, while Bayelsa Queens suffered a shock exit in Monday’s Round of 16 matches, www.aclsports.com reports.

At the Eket Township Stadium, Rivers Angels defeated Abia Angels 3-1 to continue their title defence. Zainab Oduga, Abasiofon Uwah and Ramotalahi Kareem were on target for the holders, while Winner David scored a late consolation for Abia Angels.

The biggest upset of the round came at the Awka City Stadium, where Ibom Angels knocked out Bayelsa Queens 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw. Olayiwola Wuraola handed Bayelsa Queens the lead before Mariam Okocha levelled with a spectacular strike late in the game. Goalkeeper Arek Godstime then made the decisive save in the shootout to send Ibom Angels through to the round of 16, where they will be facing Heartland Queens.
