The matchday four of the Nigeria Professional Football League 2021/22 season will usher in the new year as games will take centre stage in different centres on Sunday.

With a combined number of 12 league titles won between them, top of the fixture list is the battle between Kano Pillars and Enyimba in Kaduna. Sai Masu Gida are currently bottom of the log and are yet to score a goal so far, while the Abia side have won two of their opening three games.

Nasarawa United, after three successive draws, will be hoping to banish such memories and hand a first defeat of the season to defending Champions Akwa United in Lafia.

Plateau United entertains Heartland in Jos. Fidelis Ilechukwu will be up against his former side with a desire to begin the new year on a winning note.

Ishaq Rafiu, who is currently the top scorer in the league, and Rivers United will hope to extend their good run of form when they welcome Sunshine Stars to Port-Harcourt.

In Bauchi, MFM will be guests of Wikki Tourists at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium. The Church Boys have scored in all but one of their past visits to the Elephants and on the back of Wednesday’s win at home, there is much belief now.

Enugu Rangers have been unbeaten away from home but lost their last home fixture to Enyimba. Niger Tornadoes will be their first opponent in the new year and Abdu Maikaba will be looking for a first home win of the season.

Table Toppers Remo Stars and Dakkada will trade tackles at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Sunday. It will be their first-ever meeting in the top-flight and it promises to be an interesting fixture for the neutrals.

Elsewhere at the Lekan Salami Stadium on Monday, Shooting Stars, who are without a win in the campaign so far, will be hoping for a change of fortune when they host Katsina United. While Kwara United will travel to Okigwe to face Imama Amapakabo’s Abia Warriors.

In Monday’s other game, newly promoted Gombe United and Lobi Stars will battle for points at the Pantami Stadium. The home side is winless in the league so far and will be keen to get their maiden win of the season by beating Eddy Dombraye’s men.
