Six-time African Player of the Year Asisat Oshoala scored, while compatriot Francisca Ordega provided an assist for their respective clubs, as Al Ittihad defeated Al Hilal 3–1 in the Saudi Women’s Premier League on Sunday, www.aclsports.com reports.
Oshoala came off the bench at the start of the second half and scored in the 74th minute for Al Hilal, racing past her marker on a solo run and curling the ball past the goalkeeper with her right foot. The strike was her ninth in the league, alongside two assists, taking her season tally to 16 goals and three assists across all competitions.
Al Ittihad had taken the lead in the 41st minute after Francisca Ordega set up Leticia Nunes to put the away side ahead. They doubled their advantage just before halftime when Lamar Mohammed struck in first-half stoppage time (45+1), seizing control of the match.
Al Hilal tried to respond, but it was Mohammed who struck again in the 64th minute to complete her brace to make it 3-0 for Ittihad, before Oshoala scored a late consolation goal for Al Hilal.
Super Falcons defender Ashleigh Plumptre remained an unused substitute as Al Ittihad claimed all three points.
The win moves Al Ittihad up to second in the table, while Al Hilal drop to fifth ahead of the women’s international break.
