After a month break, the 2021 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership season resumed on Wednesday with Sunshine Queens and Rivers Angels recording crucial away victories on Matchday 5.

Defending Champions Rivers Angels toiled for over an hour at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo before Precious Christopher’s effort was deflected into the net by Ibom Angels’ defender, Jennifer Oliver in the 69th minute.

In the same vein, Seun Fakunle’s 33rd minute strike was enough to give Sunshine Queens of Akure all three points over Abia Angels in Umuahia.

Another important victory was that of Delta Queens over Bayelsa Queens ending the league leader’s perfect start to the season courtesy of a lone goal by Rachael Okotete after Bayelsa Queens failed to clear their lines .

In Osogbo, Yetunde Fajobi scored the only goal as Osun Babes defeated DreamStar FC Ladies to maintain their unbeaten home run in the league this season.

Royal Queens forced Pelican Stars to the only draw of Matchday 5 as Ogechi Ukwuoma’s 15th minute strike was canceled out by Royal Queens’ Chiamaka Okwuchukwu.
