Robo Queens maintained their perfect start to the season, while Rivers Angels began their campaign with victory as goals, late drama and standout goalkeeping lit up centres across Matchday 2 of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership on Wednesday, www.aclsports.com reports.
Robo Queens defeated Confluence Queens 4–0 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos. Favour Nkwocha opened the scoring in the 27th minute, with Tosin Rafiu doubling the lead just before half-time. Two quickfire strikes from Oluwakemi Adegbuyi in the 54th and 56th minutes secured the win for the Lagos side, who remain unbeaten and yet to concede this season.
In Port Harcourt, Rivers Angels began their season with a narrow 1–0 win over Naija Ratels at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium. Sharon Onwere rose highest to nod home from an Ifeoma Polinus corner in the 55th minute, handing Rivers Angels all three points in their opening game of the campaign.
Back in Lagos, Dannaz Ladies were held to a goalless draw by Nasarawa Amazons. Goalkeeper Selimot Jimoh produced several key saves, including a crucial stop deep into stoppage time to deny Faridat Abdulwahab, ensuring her side shared the spoils.
At the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti Queens salvaged a late point in a 1–1 draw with Adamawa Queens. Mary Sunday had given Adamawa the lead in the 55th minute, only for a stoppage-time own goal from Favour Godwin to level the scores and rescue a point for the hosts.
It also ended 0–0 at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, where Delta Queens and Sunshine Queens cancelled each other out. Bright Etim was outstanding in goal for Sunshine, producing several vital saves to keep her side in the contest.
Remo Stars Ladies claimed their first win of the season in Ikenne, defeating Abia Angels 1–0 thanks to Aisha Animashaun’s 25th-minute strike, her first league goal.
Edo Queens returned to winning ways with a 1–0 victory over Heartland Queens at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City. Atume Doosuur’s 15th-minute finish from a corner proved decisive.
Ibom Angels also left it late to defeat Pacesetter Queens 1–0 in Uyo, as Helen Daniel struck in the 87th minute to secure all three points for the hosts.
In Ile-Ogbo, Osun Babes, coached by Bankole Olowookere, edged Ahudiyannem Queens 1–0 thanks to an 87th-minute penalty converted by Nofisat Tijani following a handball.
Bayelsa Queens were not in action due to Castmog’s relegation reducing fixtures in their group.
