Kano Pillars winger Yusuf Abdullahi stole the show as Sai Masu Gida thrashed Gombe United 5-2 in one of the remaining games of match day 11 in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) played on Sunday, www.aclsports.com reports.

5 - Kano Pillars' Yusuf Abdullahi is the first player to score 5+ goals in a game in the NPFL since Emem Eduok scored all 6 goals for Dolphins FC against Nembe City in October 2014. Multiple.#GOMPIL #NPFL23 pic.twitter.com/xvmGiN2RAr

It was a remarkable game for coach Abdu Maikaba’s side as Abdullahi scored all the goals to help his side claim their first points on the road this season.

Kano Pillars scored twice in the opening 15 minutes of the game through Abdullahi before Sadiq Shuaibu got one back for the hosts; Abdullahi then scored either side of Gombe’s Ahmed Jimoh goal to reestablish Pillars’ two-goal cushion before the break. At the hour mark, the winger scored once again to complete a sensational day of scoring on the road. By his five goals, Abdullahi became the first player to score that number of goals away from home in the NPFL.

In Ikenne, Sikiru Alimi’s ninth goal of the season sent Remo Stars top of the log after a 1-0 win over Plateau United. Similarly, Nelson Abiam’s goal helped Doma United beat Niger Tornadoes in Gombe on Saturday. The likes of Sporting Lagos, Bendel Insurance, and Enyimba all defeated Katsina United, Lobi Stars, and Sunshine Stars 1-0 respectively.

In Ibadan where former champions Shooting Stars and Heartland met, there was no winner as the game finished goalless at the Lekan Salami Stadium. In Eket, Akwa United and Kwara United settled for a 1-1 draw with Kwara’s Adewale Adeyinka saving a late spot-kick.

Meanwhile, Robert Mizo scored twice in the final 10 minutes to help Bayelsa United avoid another home loss at the hands of Abia Warriors on Sunday.

Action will return on Wednesday when match day 12 takes place across various match centres.
