Remo Stars of Ikenne extended their winning start to the current Nigeria Premier Football League season to three games courtesy of a dominant 2-0 win over Kano Pillars in Katsina on Sunday, www.aclsports.com reports.

In the game decided at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, the Sky Blue Stars, who won their first two games of the campaign, secured another win on the road via goals from Sodiq Ismail and Franck Mawuena – to remain top of the log. Remo Stars have finished in second place in the past two campaigns and are looking like strong favourites for a first league title win.

Emmanuel Amuneke’s Heartland are still searching for their first win of the season after they were held to a goalless draw by visiting Katsina United at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri—similarly, the contest between Sunshine Stars and Abia Warriors in Ijebu Ode did not produce goals.

Newly promoted Ikorodu City earned their first point in the top-flight after they held Kwara United to a goalless draw in Ilorin. For the second successive game on the road, Niger Tornadoes defeated Plateau United 2-1 to stay in third spot. Kufre Ebong and Ifeanyi Okechukwu handed the visitors a two-goal lead before Samuel Pam scored a late consolation for the home side.

Earlier on Saturday, Elkanemi Warriors, and Rivers United claimed valuable away wins to kick-start a splendid weekend on match day three. Action will continue on Wednesday with a rescheduled encounter between Ikorodu City and Rangers in Lagos.
