Champions Remo Stars returned to winning ways in the 2025/26 NPFL season following a comfortable 2-0 win over Katsina United at the Remo Stars Stadium on Sunday, www.aclsports.com reports.
It was the Sky Blue Stars’ first game back in Ikenne since the win over Ikorodu City on match day 20, and they were able to claim maximum points in front of the home support and Usman Abd’Allah – the club’s technical adviser.
After Kwara United’s win over Wikki Tourists on Saturday, Remo Stars started the day in bottom spot, needing all three points in the game against the Katsina side to brighten their chances of survival. However, despite making a great start to the game by dominating possession, the Sky Blue Stars failed to find the back of the net.
In the space of three second-half minutes, Haruna Hadi grabbed a brace to ease their worries in front of a loud crowd in Ikenne. Hadi, who was part of the squad at the last CHAN tournament, latched onto a pass from Albert Korvah to hand his side the lead in the 60th minute. Just two minutes later, Victor Mbaoma rolled the ball across the goal for the simplest of finishes for the attacking midfielder.
The home side missed several goal-scoring chances, but they went on to secure the win and move up to 18th on the log. Remo Stars remain three points adrift of safety with ten matches to go.
