NPFL/LaLiga U15 Promises: ABS, Enyimba beaten on Day 1

Defending champions ABS FC U15 side were beaten on the opening day of the 2019 NPFL/LaLiga U15 Promises which got underway in four different centres on Monday morning.

ABS who won the tournament in 2017 were only participating after one of the NPFL sides failed to raise a team for the competition. The youngsters from Ilorin were however beaten 3-1 by Kano Pillars in the opening match of the Abuja centre. In the group’s other game, Lobi Stars U15 edged Gombe United U15 1-0.

The Kaduna centre recorded the biggest score margin for the day as Kwara United hammered Plateau United 8-0. The group’s other game saw Niger Tornadoes defeat Yobe Desert Stars 2-0.

In Benin, Emeka Anyanwu scored a treble for Heartland as they demolished Enyimba 4-1 in the first game at the UNIBEN Sports Complex while Delta Force rallied from a goal down to beat Sunshine Stars 3-2 in the day’s other game.

At the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu, Bendel Insurance U15 smashed Abia Warriors 4-0 in the day’s opening game while Akwa United beat Remo Stars 2-1 in the other group game.
