A new twist emerged in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) on Wednesday when Kwara United FC bought over the league slot of Delta Force.

Delta Force are a top division side based in Asaba, Delta State and they only acquired the slot from Kada City earlier this year. They have now sold it to a side that got relegated at the end of last season; Kwara United.

Delta Force bought an NPFL slot from Kada City in January 2019, by November 2019, they are tired of the slot? And selling it to Kwara United? Hard to understand some of these things.

The deal was sealed on Wednesday after a meeting between the managements of both sides in Asaba, Delta State, with the General Manager of Kwara United FC, Bashir Badawiy leading the club’s charge.

Delta Force currently occupy the 17th position on the NPFL log with four points after five games. Kwara United will now take over their remaining league games and will be based at the Ilorin Township Stadium.

Only on Wednesday, Delta Force head coach Mangut Mbwas joined CAF Confederation Cup campaigners Rangers as an assistant to their new technical assistant Salisu Yusuf.

Kwara United FC who were relegated at the end of last abridged season were drawn in Group A2 of the second tier Nigeria National League (NNL) which got underway last weekend.

United, now coached by Abdullahi Biffo started the new season with a 1-0 win over Gombe United at the Ilorin Stadium but will now return to the top flight after the rather bizarre change or guards.

Kwara United will now face Nasarawa United in Match Day 6 of the 2019/20 season in Lafia on Sunday.
