Eunisell recently celebrated its sponsorship of the club at the second edition of the Eunisell/Rivers United Day, held at the exquisite Hotel Presidential, Port-Harcourt.

The event was meant to cement the bond amongst Eunisell brand team, players, officials, supporters and the sporting media in the state.

“I want to sincerely commend Eunisell for what they have done so far for Rivers United.”

Permanent Secretary of the Rivers State Ministry of Sports, represented by, Mrs Prudence Issac Harry, also showered encomiums on Eunisell.

He said: “It is history for us in Rivers State and our football as we celebrate another Eunisell Rivers UnitedDay. We will continue to thank Eunisell for the enormous support they have given to our dear club Rivers United over the years.”

In his opening speech, Eunisell Group Managing Director, Chika Ikenga, represented by Eunisell’s Chief Finance Officer (CFO), Mr. Dipo Ogunbiyi, said: “It is 5 years ago that we took the business decision to sponsor the Port-Harcourt team, then called Sharks and subsequently, Rivers United, following the merger of the team.”

In addition, he said: “Our original rationale for the sponsorship of the club remains unchanged. Eunisell, like any Nigerian, is passionate about Nigerian football, our own clubs playing in the professional league and of course the players.

“Our involvement and support for football goes far beyond brand awareness of Eunisell; it is at a much higher level – we have a real and sincere desire to see Nigerian football and it players -both current and those who will play in years to come, to succeed and to make decent living by performing better.

“We have since extended our involvement in Nigerian football into other performance related activity with the same objective -Increase the standard of professional football.”

Rivers United General Manager, Okey Kpalukwu, assured Eunisell his side is ready to make the brand proud.

“I have a team that can rival the other big teams for the ticket and also the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title and FA Cup.” he stated.

The high point of the evening was the unveiling of the new Eunisell-Rivers United jersey to kick start a new phase of its sponsorship.
