The President of Nigeria Mixed Martial Art Federation (NMMAF), Ambassador Henry George said that the Federation is partnering with the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force and ParaMilitary Organisations in the country.

In an exclusive interview with www.aclsports.com, George said sensitisation programs are ongoing to educate the athletes and officials on the safety and integrity of the sport.

He disclosed that mixed martial arts (MMA) is a component of the Olympic Dream and will someday be a competitive sport in the Olympics.

George declared, “When it comes to sports in Nigeria, the Nigeria Army, Nigeria Police Force, and ParaMilitary are strong arms.” There are many heroes in combat sports; the Nigeria Army has made significant contributions to sporting records. Self-defence is the focus of Nigerian Mixed Martial Arts, which was accepted as a sport and served as an entrance to the Army.

“Nigeria is leading the way in the growth of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), and we hope to have a significant influence at the Olympics. The Federation wants to make sure that the athletes follow the current rules and forbidden methods.

“We hold these seminars so that the athletes can learn the techniques and first-hand knowledge of the sport. We train our athletes to guarantee the safety of the sport because the integrity of the sport matters to us.”

George told www.aclsports.com that the Federation conducted a technical meeting for athletes and officials in the Nigerian Army.

He said, “The majority of people believe that MMA is practised in the same way that they understand what they watch on television. MMA is a component of the Olympic Dream, thus we will teach them the requirements and the rules. The safety of the sport is being stressed so much, and numerous regulations and changes have been made”.
