Venezia of Italy full back Tyrone Ebuehi has been given the nod to start at right back for Nigeria in the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations clash with Egypt, www.aclsports.com exclusively scoops.

Ebuehi was a late draft into the team after Cyprus based Abdullahi Shehu withdrew from the squad due to injury and was the penultimate player to join the team’s camp in Garoua, Cameroon.

After impressing in training sessions since his arrival, the former Benfica star has now beaten another Italy based player Ola Aina to the starting berth at the right back position.

Augustine Eguavoen has a late decision to make at right back between Tyrone Ebuehi and Ola Aina. The latter has been in camp since they were in Abuja and looked odds on to start but the crew has been impressed by Ebuehi since he arrived in Garoua. #TotalEnergiesAFCON2021 #NGAEGY

In the absence of defensive stalwart Leon Balogun, experienced star Kenneth Omeruo has also gotten the nod to start alongside William Troost-Ekong in the team’s centre back position while FC Porto’s Zaidu Sanusi will start at left back.

Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi will lead the team’s midfield and will be alongside Joe Aribo in the double pivot role.

Head coach Augustine Eguavoen has also handed Kelechi Iheanacho a big role upfront where he will be flanked by captain Ahmed Musa and CSKA Moskva winger Chidera Ejuke.

The Group D clash between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and the Pharaohs of Egypt will kick off at 5pm Nigerian time at the Stade Omnisports Roumdé Adjia in Garoua, Cameroon.
