Three time African champions, Nigeria, dropped in the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola world ranking released on Thursday. Nigeria dropped one spot from 48th last month to 49 in the world and seventh in Africa.

The Super Eagles existed the 2018 World Cup in Russia at the group stages, where they won one and lost three of their games.

Elsewhere, Tunisia and Senegal top the ranking in Africa, with both nations occupying number 24 in the world.

Tunisia dropped three places on the ranking, while Senegal gained three on their North African counterparts.

In the top ten, newly crowned world champions, France are back as the best footballing nation in the world, after winning their second world title in July.

France are now ranked number one, with losing finalists, Croatia rewarded for their impressive performance at the tournament in Russia as they moved16 places to fourth.

Semifinalists, Belgium and England occupy second and fifth respectively, with Brazil dropping to third.

Meanwhile, North Africans, Egypt were the worst movers, dropping 20 places to 65 in the world, while 2018 World Cup hosts, Russia take the best movers award, moving 21 places to 49th.

The lastest ranking is the first since the 21st FIFA World Cup was concluded in Russia.
