National Youth Games: Delta state take early lead

Delta state is currently topping the log with 37 medals at the ongoing National Youth Games in Ilorin. Delta state has 16 gold, and 10 silver and 11 bronze after recording medal hauls in events like swimming and wrestling

Lagos state is occupying second position with 9 gold, 18 silver and 4 bronze (31 medals) while Edo state sits in 3rd position with 8 gold, 6 silver and 2 bronze medals ( 16 medals).

However, Team Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom and Ondo and FCT were 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th on the medals table respectively.

Team Bayelsa has 6 gold, 2 silver and 14 bronze medals, while Akwa Ibom has 5 gold, 4 silver and two bronze medals as Ondo won 4 gold, 6 silver and two bronze to be in the 6th position.

Team FCT has been pushed further down the ladder as it occupied the 7th position following its failure to win medals since climbing top of the table on Tuesday.

Volleyball:

Anambra state beat Kaduna state 2-1( 25-23, 25-27, 17-15) in the girl’s U15 volleyball event

Lagos state beat Akwa Ibom 2-0 (25-21, 25-17) in the boy’s U15 volleyball event

Handball

Lagos state handball team beat Kaduna state 16-12 to qualify for the U15 girls semi finals

Delta state beat Ekiti state 15-4 to qualify for the U15 girls semi finals.

In the boy’s game, Borno state beat Anambra state 32-14 while Ondo state lost 12-24 to Niger state.

Weightlifting:

NamsifonAbasi Ekanem wins gold and two silver in the 49kg boys’ weightlifting event.

Cycling:

Plateau state, John Emmanuel won gold in the ten kilometers Cycling Individual time Trials
