Safety Shooters player, Abubakar Atabo has promised to score more goals for his team ahead of the second phase of the Prudent Energy Handball League in Lagos.

The second phase of the 2019 Prudent Energy Handball League is scheduled for 5th to 17th October, 2019 at Rowe Park Sports Centre, Yaba, Lagos.

Abubakar Atabo told www.aclsports.com that he felt bad that despite scoring the highest goals in the first phase, his team sits second place behind league leaders, Kano Pillars.

He said, “I want to score more goals for my team in the second phase. It is not just about scoring but winning matches through goals. The first phase was exciting and tough, I and my teammates wanted to win all our matches but we ended losing some.

“Kano Pillars is a good team but I felt we could have topped the group because we have better players. I was not happy after the league because I felt my goals could have lifted my team to top the league table.

The former national team player said preparations are in top gear ahead of next month’s league.

The play maker said, “We are set and fit for the league. Some of my teammates played at the IHF U17 and U20 championships respectively, others also featured at the recently concluded African Games in Morocco. This experiences they have gathered will help lift the club in the second phase of the league.

Safety Shooters’ Abubakar Atabo is the highest goal scorer with 74 goals at the first phase of the 2019 Prudent Energy Handball League in Abuja.

The first phase of the league played earlier in the year in May, saw Kano Pillars and Safety Babes top the log of the men and women league.
