Two time Commonwealth Games Champion, Odunayo Adekuoroye has decided not to represent Ondo State at the forthcoming 3rd Governor Dickson Wrestling Championships in Yenegoa next June.

Adekuoroye told www.aclsports.com that she will represent Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) wrestling Club at the tournament.

She claimed Ondo State has not appreciated other sports except football which is very bad.

The four times African Champion said, “I have made up my mind not to represent Ondo State at the 3rd Governor Dickson Wrestling Championships next month. The state government led by Rotimi Akeredolu has not fulfilled her promises made to the wrestlers in the past. Look at the governor of Bayelsa state, he appreciated the national team wrestlers when they arrived from the Commonwealth Games.

“When we returned from the 2018 Commonwealth Games, a promise was made to host victorious athletes but till today, nobody has seen the governor. I am representing Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries because they have been more supportive to my career”.

The World Silver medallist said there are no training equipment and facilities in the indoor hall but they still go ahead to win laurels for the state.

“I stand to be corrected; there are no training equipment and facilities in Ondo State. The reason why some of us are excelling is because of our passion for the sports. The governor is only concentrating on Sunshine Stars which is not good for the development of sports”, the UWW athletes representative said.
