Brazilian midfielder Gabi Zanotti’s 83rd-minute strike sent SC Corinthians into the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup 2026 final with a 1-0 victory over Gotham FC, www.aclsports.com reports.
At Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium, the Corinthians captain chest-controlled and smashed home a cross from Tamires, following a brilliant run down the right by Ivana Fuso, to send the CONMEBOL winners through to the final. At 40, Zanotti is the oldest player at these finals.
Gotham FC started the game the brighter of the two sides, controlling possession early and creating several chances. Corinthians responded when Belen Aquino fired, while Jaelin Howell saw her shot go just past the post at the other end.
Corinthians’ Andressa Alves tested Gotham goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger with a powerful drive from outside the box, only for Jess Carter to make a crucial block.
Gotham came out strongly after the break, producing two golden chances to take the lead. Emily Sonnett had a header from a corner cleared off the line, while Katie Stengel’s effort inside the box went wide.
Zanotti’s match-winning performance earned her Player of the Match honours.
Corinthians will now face the winner of the semi-final between Arsenal Women FC and ASFAR at Arsenal Stadium on Sunday, 1 February, to crown the first-ever FIFA Women’s Intercontinental Club Champions title.
Gotham will also wait for the third-place play-off, which kicks off before the final.
