Coach Fidelis Obi leads Sokoto Rima into the 2021 African Handball Club Championship in Morocco. The 37th Men’s and Women’s African Club Cup Winners Championships will take place in Meknes, Morocco from 24th August to 2nd September 2021.

The ex Niger United player told www.aclsports.com that Sokoto Rima is ready to make an impact at the African Club Championship.

He commended the Governor of Sokoto State, Rt Hon Aminu Tambuwal for investing in handball adding that the Sokoto Rima is featuring in the club championship after 25 years.

Obi said, “The players are motivated and determined to make a positive impact at the club championship. This is the first time some of the players are playing in the club championship while few tasted it in their former club side.

“I want to thank Governor Aminu Tambuwal for believing in handball. The Governor signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Handball Federation of Nigeria to host the National U12/15 Championship for four year, now he made sure the club side participates in the African Club Championship after 25 years. There is no better youth empowerment program like investing in the youths through sporting activities”.

The former national team coach side his team is not intimidated by the other teams from North Africa.
