Ciudad de la Adelantos of Spain guard, Adaeze Alaeze has pulled out of the D’Tigress camp in Atlanta five days after making the preliminary list released by the Nigeria Basketball Federation.

Alaeze, a future prospect of the senior women’s national team, also missed out on the Afrobasket winning team last year. She however was part of the Nigeria contingent to Mali.

Alaeze disclosed her withdrawal from the D’Tigress camp on her Facebook page;

“Parents, grandparents & guardians, as you all may or may not know, I’m taking the year off from basketball to pursue my Masters Degree in Sports Leadership this fall at VCU. This summer I’ve been doing a variety of side jobs/opportunities and this will be my favourite one by far.”

Alaeze born to Nigerian parents from Ahoada, Rivers State, holds the record for the most points scored in her high school at Roland Park Country School in the US.

She also received a 4 year scholarship to Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). Following her collegiate career, she played professional basketball in Spain for two years.
