Nigeria’s Women’s Cricket Team, the Female Yellow Greens, are in Namibia and set to compete in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifiers, scheduled from 31 August to 6 September 2025, www.aclsports.com reports.
The 14-player squad was announced on Monday, 25 August, and the team departed Lagos on Thursday, 28 August, following training and final preparations ahead of the tournament.
Drawn in Group A, Nigeria opens against Sierra Leone on 31 August at 8:00 am, then faces hosts Namibia on 1 September at 1:30 pm before concluding the group stage against Zimbabwe on 3 September at the same time.
Led by the captain Peculiar Agboya, Nigeria faces a tough contest against Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Sierra Leone, Namibia, and Zimbabwe, all vying for the two tickets to the Global Qualifiers in Nepal (12 January – 2 February 2026).
Nigeria is ranked 26th in the ICC Women’s T20 standings, with Group A rivals Zimbabwe (14th), Namibia (18th), and Sierra Leone (39th). The top two teams from the group stage will advance to the semi-finals, with the finalists securing Africa’s two slots for the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup finals in England.
