Faleye’s return set to help 3SC’s relegation woes

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) is set to welcome young striker Sunday Faleye back from illness in Sunday’s Nigeria Professional Football League game against Gombe United.

Faleye, in his debut season in the top flight, has been an important part of ‘Oluyole Warriors’ as they continue their fight against relegation. They Gombe United in a relegation battle in Ibadan on Sunday and will be able to call on the teenage prospect once again.

Scorer of six goals so far in this campaign, Faleye last featured for Fatai Amoo’s side in their loss at Rivers United on Match Day 26 and has been treating an unspecified ailment since then. He has stepped up his recovery and participated in full training on Friday as his team prepare for Sunday’s clash.

The youngster has made 21 appearances this season, including fourteen starts and his return will be a timely boost for a team that have scored just twice in their last three games.

In other injury news, right back Sylvester Ebiaku has rejoined his 3SC teammates after two weeks out due to concussion.

3SC’s vice-captain, Ebiaku was knocked unconscious during his team’s 1-0 win against Enyimba a fortnight ago during a challenge with Enyimba star Mfon Udoh. The former Insurance defender was rushed to the hospital immediately after the incident but was discharged same day, needing time to recuperate.

He was however spotted at the team’s training session on Friday although he did not take part in it, effectively ruling him out of Sunday’s game against Gombe United.

Shooting Stars occupy 17th, the last relegation spot on the NPFL table with 40 points, three ahead of Sunday’s opponents, Gombe United and a victory on Sunday will take them out of the drop zone, at least for a week.
