The head coach of Nigeria U18 girls, Elishama Elam told www.aclsports.com that his players fought hard against Cameroon but could not yield results.

Cameroon humbled Nigeria in front of home fans in straight sets 3-0 (28-26, 25-21, 25-21) at the indoor sport hall of the MKO Abiola Stadium at the ongoing 2021 U18 Girls African Nations Volleyball Championship in Abuja on Friday.

Elam said the girls played well in the first and second set but the game did not go in favour of team Nigeria.

The COAS Spikers coach said, “The girls fought well and they gave Cameroon a tough time, but unfortunately their efforts could not yield good results.

“We will go back to our drawing board and work on our lapses against our next matches and to get things right”, Elam said.

The captain of Nigeria’s female team, Maryam Ibrahim said they would improve on their performance to win their next game.

“We really need to work hard and qualify to play the World Cup. We will fight well to win our next match,” the captain said.
