NPFL Champions, Remo Stars, have nine players named in Eric Chelle’s final Super Eagles B squad for the 8th CHAN taking place in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda next month, www.aclsports.com EXCLUSIVELY reveals.
Chelle initially named a 35-man squad for the training camp at the Remo Stars Institute in Ikenne, Ogun State, and has now trimmed the squad with days to the commencement of the tournament.
Remo Stars skipper Junior Nduka, who also doubles as the skipper of the NPFL stars, leads a cast of Remo Stars players that includes Sodiq Ismail, Alex Oyowah, Qudus Akanni, Sikiru Alimi, Michael Tochukwu, Haruna Hadi, Jabbar Malik, and Olamilekan Adedayo.
Meanwhile, Shooting Stars’ Mustapha Lawal, who was very brilliant in the training sessions, leads a list of goalkeepers that includes Henry Ani Ozoemena from Enyimba and Kwara United’s Badmus Nurudeen.
In terms of the defenders, Stephen Manyo (Rivers United), Leonard Ngenge (Ikorodu City), Taiwo Abdulrafiu (Rivers United), and Sodiq Ismail (Remo Stars) are some of the defenders selected to be part of the squad. Meanwhile, a source also informed ACLSports that Nigeria U20 captain, Daniel Bameyi, will team up with the squad for the tournament.
Striker Anthony Ijoma, who caught the eye in camp, has been selected alongside Sikiru Alimi, who also featured for the Super Eagles during the Unity Cup in London, as part of the forwards for the tournament. The tournament has been scheduled to take place from 2–30 August 2025 in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
Players like Kayode Bankole and Sunday Megwo left camp to process transfer deals abroad, while others like Adamu Abubakar, Papa Daniel, Adejoh Ojonugwa, Saviour Isaac, Waliu Ojetoye, and Ifeanyi Onyebuchi (injured) did not show up in camp. Players who failed to make the cut include Joseph Atule (Enyimba), Ayomide Cole (Ikorodu City), Kabiru Muhammed (Kwara United), Aminu Umar (Kano Pillars), Zayyad Musa (Kano Pillars), and Aniekeme Okon (Rivers United).
The squad will leave the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne, where they have been preparing in the past three weeks for Tanzania, on Thursday evening. Eric Chelle’s side will play some friendly matches there before the tournament begins.
Nigeria, who were losing finalists in 2018, will play their first two matches of the tournament, against Senegal and Sudan, at the Amman Stadium on the island of Zanzibar, before taking on Congo at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
